In Europe, unprecedented numbers of refugees and migrants from the Middle East and Africa have triggered a crisis in Europe. Millions more in Turkey and Lebanon are generating further political, economic and social pressures. Migration is playing a major role in domestic and international affairs in the US, Europe and Asia. Paul Collier wants to help you understand how together we should approach this complex issue.

Dr Raghuram Rajan believes that low borrowing costs and quantitative easing have made for an aggressive monetary policy that threatens financial stability. We must change direction. There will be volatility, but we must bear it. Dr Rajan will lay out possible paths for policy change and the consequences for global assets prices, inflation and risk. What should we do and when? How long will the pain last, and what will the outcome be for the developed and emerging world?

We have not had such heightened tensions on the Korean Peninsula since the Korean War. In conversation with Jami Miscik, he will discuss the potential for conflict escalation, the Chinese and US policy stance and South Korea’s opposing promise of economic integration. This session will address these issues and consider the impact of regime collapse and the likely outcomes in the short and long term.

15:30 - 16:20	Markets: Making Sense of it All Mohamed El-Erian, Chief Economic Adviser, Allianz; Former CEO & Co-CIO, PIMCO Within the next two years, Mohamed El-Erian believes, the developed world will hit a fork in the road between equality and chaos: one road leads to higher growth and a more inclusive form of capitalism, while the other turns towards recession, instability and turmoil. In this closing session, he will examine what brought us to this point, and suggest how we can navigate ourselves towards a more positive and stable future, in addition to providing an investor’s view on populism, de-globalisation, geopolitical tensions and the need for regional and global governance repair, and outline the possible opportunities ahead.
